Primary Instrument: Trombone

Growing up in the historic Treme “Trah-May” neighborhood of New Orleans, Andrews was immersed in the local musical culture from childhood.

One of the first African American neighborhoods in America, the Faubourg Treme or “Sixth Ward” was the site of the significant cultural, social, and musical achievements that literally shaped the course of events in Black America for the past two centuries.

Musical legends like George Lewis, Jimmy Noone, Alphonse Picou, and Freddie and Louis Keppard once walked the neighborhood's streets, played in it's clubs, and jammed on it's stoops, as do many of today's young lions such as Kermit Ruffins, Nicholas Payton, Shannon Powell, and Glen David Andrews.

A young and tremendously talented trombonist and vocalist, Andrews possesses the pedigree to carry the famed New Orleans musical torch into the 21st century. With a style that both articulates the tradition of New Orleans jazz as well as the more contemporary, funky sounds of today's brass bands, this regional superstar is taking his electric vocals, moving lyrics, and powerful trombone playing up from the streets of New Orleans and into the rest of the world.
