Born: July 14, 1960    Primary Instrument: Sax, alto

Born, reared educated in Newark, NJ

I first learned percussion before I entered kindergarten. I was taught by my Dad, Leon De Vose, Sr., who was the lead drummer for the Essex County African Dance Society. I still run into his students from time to time.

I began playing sax at age 13 first taught by (now Dr.) William Phipps, then Jesse Morrison, Jesse Anderson and the legendary late Howard “Duke” Anderson.

I have played in many venues over the years, almost exclusively in church or christian bands, but of late I have started writing and returned to my jazz roots. I recentley began working with Terry Royful, son of the legendary Shad Royful (keyboard, arranging, composing), James Tiebout (guitar, arranging composing), John Jones (drums, arranging, composing) to form “Brick City Legacy”. Most of our material is original, but it also includes covers and arrangements of standards.

Yes, we are available for your event.
