Oktawia Kawecka, born in Radom, Poland, is a vocalist, flute player, arranger, and also the leader of her own band. She performs her own arrangements- different shades of jazz, worldwide standards of classical music which she arranges combining fresh and modern sounds at the same time keeping her attitude and devotion towards the mainstream jazz music. Her reportoire includes songs in Polish, English, French, Spanish, Greek, Portuguese and Italian. She is currently studying at F. Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw, Poland. Oktawia Kawecka has been performing since her childhood, winning many acclaimed awards at Polish and international music festivals, including for example Polish TV channel 1 award at the International Music and Dance Festival in Konin. Since her early years she has also performed in numerous theatre plays. She has recorded for radio and TV- Polish National Radio, Jazzradio, Radio Krakow, Polish TVP1, TVP2, TVP3 and Polsat TV stations. Oktawia Kawe;cka cooperates with finest musicians known in Poland and worldwide. Among them we can mention Bogdan Ho?ownia, Rafa? Sarnecki, Piotr Rodowicz, Sebastian Frankiewicz, Tomasz-Kciuk? ”Jaworski, Grzegoz Grzyb, Marcin Masecki, Piotr Wrombel, Piotr Zabrocki, Jan Smoczyn'ski, ?ukasz Poprawski, Piotr Sawicki, Wojciech Pulcyn, Ryszard Borowskim, Wojciech „Malina” Kowalewski, Piotr? ”Bocian?”Cies'likowski Michal Urbaniak and many others. Okawia Kawe;cka also performs with “Aquarium” big band and Latin- band.
Oktawia's debut album will be released in mid October 2008. Her modern arrangements put signifciant emotional emphasis on the Polish composers and their works. Apart from her own songs, the album includes a jazz waltz inspired by F.Chopin's etiude, works by Stanislaw Moniuszko, worldwide renowned jazz musician Michal Urbaniak, Jerzy Wasowski, Jeremi Przybora. What is more, Oktawia as one of the first musicans in Poland recorded two songs composed by an Oscar award winner composer Bronislaw Kapper. With her debut album kept in acoustic climate, Oktawia presents the artistry and professionalism of the young jazz musicians generation. Oktawia's voice has a chance to become the symbol of the new jazz generation.
