Credentials/Background:
Musicians are needed for a new all-age Jazz orchestra, the "Brickhouse Orchestra". Classes supporting the orchestra include reading, improvising, and Jazz/Blues Harmony. The music will consist mostly of dance material from the 20's through the 60's. The "Brickhouse Orchestra" will be under the direction of Harley White Jr, a Sacramento native who wears many musical hats. After a 4 year stint at Sacramento Waldorf School, he started an after-school Jazz program called " The Housecats" at the arts collective "Joe's Style Shop" . It was there that he garnered a "Sammie" award for "Critical Achievement". When the original "Housecats" members all left for college, Harley continued with teaching their parents! It is a family affair indeed. After a brief hiatus to pursue his own orchestral ambitions, Harley is now back, and taking students for the new "Brickhouse Orchestra". Classes will meet on Thursdays at 7pm starting 10/30/08. "The Brickhouse" is located at 2837 36th ave. (and Broadway), Sacramento CA. $20 per class. See you there!
