Tommaso Cappellato

Italian drummer, composer and producer Tommaso Cappellato is a founder and creator of numerous musical situations. His curiosity for different styles and continuous will for research led him to travel and explore various countries in the world to collaborate with many influential musical artists. During his 9-years stay in New York Tommaso took part to several musical projects playing all styles of music. A remarkable time of this period was the 2-year engagement at the Rainbow Room playing 6 nights a week with pianist Ehud Asherie and bassist Joseph Lepore. Soon after he joined Vibes Trio with vibraphonist Bill Ware and bass player Brad Jones. In 2004 Tommaso, along with Brooklyn-based mc Yah Supreme, founded the hip hop band Brohemian and recorded the album “POST MODERN GARDEN” in which he acts as both drummer and producer. In 2005 he travels to Senegal, Africa to record with Guinean percussionist and singer Salif Bangoura while in 2008 he tours Japan and Australia. In 2010 he extensively tours China with Tectonic Quartet featuring Michael Blake, Peter Scherr and Teddy Kumpel.

In 2009 Tommaso debuts as a leader with his own Quartet including Michael Blake, Giovanni Guidi and Joe Rehmer releasing the single “THE KNIGHT” exclusively on vinyl and the full studio album “OPEN” for the label ELEFANTE ROSSO. Other projects he's involved in are a bass-less trio with Don Byron and Fabrizio Puglisi, the double saxophone quartet NESSO G with saxophonists Francesco Bigoni & Michele Polga and bass player Danilo Gallo; Dionysiac Hammond Trio with guitarist Domenico Caliri and Emiliano Pintori on hammond organ and H.A.T. with brand new talents Alessandro Lanzoni on piano and Gabriele Evangelista on bass.

Tommaso’s COLLABORATIONS include performances and recordings with: Tim Armacost, Omer Avital, Peter Bernstein, Michael Blake, Robert Bonisolo, Fabrizio Bosso, George Cables, Carol C (Si-Se’), Mark De Clive-Lowe, Antonio Farao', Joel Frahm, Aaron Goldberg, Steve Grossman, Debbie Harry (Blondie), Jon Hendricks, The Jazz Passengers, Lionel Loueke, Junior Mance, Ronnie Mathews, Ron McClure, Dado Moroni, Butch Morris, Dj Nickodemus, Enrico Pieranunzi, Marc Ribot, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pietro Tonolo, Harry Whitaker, Richard Wyands.
