David Longoria

DAVID LONGORIA sings and plays the trumpet. He grew up listening to trumpeters Al Hirt, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Herb Alpert, Raphael Mendez and other musicians like Oscar Peterson, Buddy Rich, Pete Fountain, Jaco Pastorius and many others. He credits each of them with “adding a little something” to his sound. He glides effortlessly through jazz and pop alike. David's new album “BAILA!”will be released this summer. The first single from the album, a pop dance song titled DEEPER LOVE features David and R&B/dance diva CECE PENISTON as they sing together this European influenced blend of Latin Jazz, Pop and House Music. The song sports a haunting trumpet line whose infectious melody will linger long after the song ends. This single rose to number 14 on the USA Billboard Chart.

The second single from BAILA! is an instrumental contemporary Jazz song called Sunset. This features European top guitarist MARC ANTOINE along with David.

David's single, “Zoon Baloomba” was realeased in the end of 2012 and climbed the US Billboard Charts to #21. This made Billboard Magazine Chart history as it is the first trumpet Instrumental song to become a National Hit on the chart since Herb Alpert's epic hit “Rise” did it in 1979.

The music video for “Zoon Baloomba” reached the #1 spot in January for Dance Music Videos and remained for 2 weeks. The clip on YouTube earned it's platinum status gathering more than a million views. In April it has topped the mark for 2 Million views. “I am excited for the success of Zoon Baloomba because it reminds kids that playing a real instrument can be cool and I truly hope it encourages them to explore Jazz and other styles,” David says, adding “When I was growing up guys like Herb Alpert, Al Hirt, Aturo Sandoval, Miles Davis, Maynard Ferguson and others had a great impact on me. Sometimes it just takes that acceptance in the pop culture world to expand our reach as musicians.”

Many reviewers have also drawn parallels to the classic Herb Alpert songs with Zoon Baloomba. “I am honored to be considered in such great company,” David responds, continuing “Herb is a tremendous talent who's music will be around forever. He has always had a knack for bringing accessible instrumental music to the charts.”

Another highlight from the upcoming album is No Turning Back, a romantic Latin Jazz song which features David along with Conguero great Poncho Sanchez. “When I first heard Poncho play live, I thought 'he's got such a gift for the groove'. I knew I wanted to bring him in on one of my new songs,” David explains. And it was clearly a great decision. “The rhythmic chemistry is beautiful,” David says.

Another upcoming single from the album “Mi Corazon” features David singing a tale of travel through a Spanish town where he happens upon a young lady that deeply affects him. The Flamenco/Salsa mix is as energetic as it is catchy. David sings the chorus in Spanish and even those who don't speak the language understand the memorable romantic meaning. The trumpet work on this song is a truly passionate Spanish performance- so powerful it has probably never yet been heard by this generation.

Also featured on the upcoming album is a David Longoria original piece titled A CASTLE IN SPAIN, and features the guest performance of guitar great OTTMAR LIEBERT along with David.

David was trained as a classical trumpeter before discovering jazz - which opened up the world of improvisation to his music. He excelled as a soloist, performing with orchestras and bands throughout the world. His songwriting, productions and performing have brought him to work with many of the best musical artists of our time. His talents have been tapped by artists from virtually every genre of music from Pop and R&B to Jazz, Flamenco and Rock. He is as at home with a slamming Dance track as he is with an Jazz/R&B groove or a Blues jam. Find more information at www.davidlongoria.com

He is an exceptional trumpet player and he demonstrates his expertise continually with each song that he performs. He is also a very skilled vocalist who communicates wonderfully with an audience. “ - Katrina-Casey Wheeler, Jazzreview.com (Jun 05, 2008)
