Born to deaf parents in NYC may seem like an unlikely place to raise a musician but nonetheless Mark has been making music since five, and draws from fifty years of experience as a performing and recording artist.
Carnegie Hall is usually where most perform when they have reached a milestone in their lives but Mark started there at the age of seven. Studied at Music and Art H.S. in NYC and later went on to the Midwest to study at The College of Emporia for music. Mark also studied composition and piano at The Atlantic University campus(Muana Olu) on Maui,Hawaii.
After several years he returned to New York City. and recorded with Boris Midney a Soviet Alto saxophonist who took Mark and his group Windmill under his wing.
After performing in the NY, NJ area he relocated to FLorida. While in FLorida he honed his craft and recorded and performed with Music of the Spheres who fused Laser light and sound to The Miami Space and Transit Planetarium.
Mark returned to NY to settle in Saratoga Springs where he has been performing in and around the Capital district. Mark has played with notables Barry Manilow, Alexis Cole, Sherry Saba, Michael Panza, Larry Levine, Mike Wick, Sharron Edwards and Ron Mayfield to name a few.
Mark also wrote the music for the local production of Popeye Canfield that debuted at the Troy Music Hall.
Mark was the keyboardist as well for the inspirational Christian group “Revealer” who recorded with Gary Tash and released their CD in 1996.
Mark has played piano at The Lodge in Saratoga Springs for the last six years during Racing Season in Saratoga, NY.
Mark also performed at The Van Dyck, Provencel, Nicole’s Italia and The Prime.
Mark performs and records with Las Manos the well know Capital Region latin jazz ensemble. Mark debuted The Greatest Gift, A Jazz Suite in Signs and Riffs at Filene Hall in Spring of 2007
Mark is a recent music graduate from Adirondack Community and Skidmore College. He is also appearing at The Prime Restaurant at Saratoga National Golf Course both as a soloist as well as a pianist and vocalist for Las Manos. Currently working on the new CD for Las Manos expecting a Spring 2009 release. A Show of Hands will feature saxaphonists Dan Shepherd and Adam York as well as Mike Hurt on bass,Pedro Perez on percussion and Rye Willey on drums. Mark will also be featured on the new Alexis Cole Christmas CD entitled Star in the East
