Vin Scialla has traveled the world teaching and performing music in Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Vin balances a career as drummer, educator, and composer in in New York City. He teaches music workshops in NYC schools and the Music Improv Camp at Teachers College. Vin has written a drum method and instructional DVD for drumteacher.com. US Department of Defense entertainment tours have taken him to the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia and Egypt. In addition. he has performed with Glen Velez, Valery Ponomarev, JD Allen, Alessandra Belloni, Snehasish Mozumder, Eric Revis, Wayne Escoffery, Morris Arnie Lang, Michel Merhej, Kristin Hoffmann, Anthony Davis, Yale Symphony, Tania Leon, Brooklyn Conservatory Percussion Ensemble, Vernon Reid, Ramesh Misra, Bellyqueen, P-Funk, and Valery Ponomarev. His recording history includes tracks for Rick Rubin, Miles Copeland, and full length albums for Mission on Mars (liftoff records) to name a few. He recently performed at Lincoln Center out of doors, in 2009. Vin is currently working on the New jazz album with master mandolinist Snehasish Mozumder. He can be heard at New York venues such the Knitting Factory, Jazz at Lincoln Center, NuBlu, Joe's Pub, as well as Summer music festivals in the US and Europe.
Mission on Mars info: Mission On Mars mixes live jazz breakbeat rhythms, Indian sitarmelodies, space-jazz guitar and Middle Eastern drones into a funk-chilled dub-crater of moon-walking beats. The album includes guests PremikRussell Tubbs on bansuri and flute, and Ed Feldman on tabla.
