Jamie Davis holds a position amongst the pantheon of great male vocalists with a full deep baritone voice that has been paired with some of the world’s most famous talent. Davis counts Patty Austin, Tony Bennett, George Benson, the Count Basie Orchestra, Rosemary Clooney, Jimmy Cobbs, and Billy Cobham.
Davis was named the chocolate baritone by Sir Michael Parkinson, the BBC’s arbiter of important international Jazz, after his 2007 performance in London with the BBC’s sixty-four piece orchestra. Last year’s schedule included the Chetlenham Festival, the Jerry Lewis Telethon in Las Vegas and tours at home and abroad. Davis also performs regularly for both public and private events in United States and Europe.
During his career, Davis has traveled and performed extensively around the world as a headliner and as the lead vocalist for the Count Basie Orchestra. His full rich, deep baritone voice was tapped to narrate ‘A Time to Remember,’ a docudrama which won the Black American Independent Filmmakers Award. In 1999 in recognition of his steady accomplishments in the San Francisco area jazz scene, Davis was invited to be a part of the prestigious ‘Bay Area’s Giants of Jazz’ photograph, a event inspired by the acclaimed, historical ‘A Great Day in Harlem’ photo of 1952.
Davis’ solo CDs include It’s All About Love and two critically acclaimed second recordings in front of a big band made up of members of the Count Basie organization and some of Los Angeles’ finest instrumentalists entitled It’s A Good Thing released in 2006 and Vibe Over Perfection in 2008. It’s a Good Thing was album of the week on digital radio station www.thejazz.com in December 2007 and is currently on the in-flight audio play lists of British Airways, Scandinavian, Aer Lingus and British Midland.

Those who love their vocal jazz low and smooth will
enjoy the richness of Vibe Over Perfection, the new album
from Jamie Davis. Davis has been a singer for years and will
appeal to fans of Joe Williams and Lou Rawls. While many
have been compared to those two, it's another thing to take
jazz standards and truly make them sound new. This is exactly
what he does with new versions of Lionel Richie's Hello,
Rawls' You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine,
and the classic The Look Of Love. Even Nature Boy,
which has been covered countless times over the years,
gets a bit of a new awakening here.
The album was beautifully produced by Greg Errico, the name
of which should be familiar to Sly & The Family Stone fans.
He has done a number of productions in the past and his work
here shows the kind of ear he has to make these recordings
sound fantastic.
