Beverly Rego

As reviewed by the LA Times' Agustin Gurza, Beverly Rego is indeed a "haunting jazz vocalist from Venezuela". Her collaborations with distinguished Latin musicians (notably pianist/composer Leo Blanco, co-writer one of the tracks featured here) and solo ventures have bridged the barriers between jazz, world-music, Venezuelan tradition, Brazilian MPB & bossa, rock, folk and pop. With an EP underway for release in '09, she uses her pure voice, multilingual fluidity and harmonic talent to weld a deeply lyrical collection of songs, in an intensely imaginative approach to the multi-hued traditions, imagery and sounds she draws from, and makes her own.
