Hiromi Kasuga

Hiromi Kasuga, a jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, began her musical life at the age of six by playing classical piano. She is originally from Japan, now living in NY. She began her jazz studies at the acclaimed Berklee College of Music. After graduating from Berklee, she received a full scholarship at Long Island University. Her next achievement was a Masters of Music degree at the highly esteemed Manhattan School of Music where she graduated with top honors.

Those Universities offered Hiromi a wealth of precious experience to study with great jazz musicians, such as Bruce Barth, Dave Leibman, and Kenny Barron. She also has a passion for arranging for small to larger ensembles. This passion has led her to further studies with two great master arrangers, Jim McNeely and David Matthews. Aside from being an exceptionally gifted pianist, she is also a prolific composer and arranger in her own right. In recent years, (September 2005 to September 2007) she arranged several tunes for a big band and strings orchestra under the directorship of Alto Saxophonist Brad Leali at Texas Tech University.

Her schedule remains active playing popular US venues like the Blue Note New York and the Kitano Hotel. Blue Note Japan is looking to promote Hiromi Kasuga for a Japan and Asian tour as well as a US and European tour.

She has just released her “New York Calling” CD in the United States, February 12,2009.
