Background

Guitarist Elizabeth Dodd grew up in the South Plainfield NJ and was first exposed to Jazz while studying with Legondary guitar guru, Harry Leahy. Leahy toured the world as Phil Wood's guitarist. Under Leahy's legendary tutelage, Bethany began listening to the great Jazz guitarists and was active in New Brunswick Jazz Youth Orchestra. Upon receiving a Jazz guitar scholarship to Rutgers University, she received a music degree in guitar performance from the Mason Gross School of the Arts. Bethany had the privilege to study with other Jazz greats like, Kenny Baron, Larry Ridley, Terrance Blanchard, Ted Dunbar and Professor Fielder. After graduating from Rutgers, she headed to Manhattan School of Music to teach guitar classes. During Jazz Festival in New Orleans,she was hired to play in the legondary Blue Room Orchestra in the Roosevelt Fairmont as well as Tipitinos. Her new CD “Mozambique” is a blend of Latin, Afro-Cuban and Bossa Nova. It received a Billboard Award for the title track, “Tides” (honorable mention). The cd was recorded live with Chris Brown on drums, Sam Kennedy on bass, and Jason Teborek on piano. Her Jazz quartet performs her Latin infused original compositions in New York City. She recently was hired by Diva Manager Stanley Kay to play a NYC club dates as well as by Abby Hoffer Enterprises.
