A few months ago, Chantal Richer of CIMF Roch Détente called Jozée Devoua:..”one of my favourite singers, she has a magnificent voice and extraordinary stage presence, a jazzy voice that will touch your heart, a talent from the area to be discovered.” Last year, Joanne Samson, Radio Canada, praised her debut cd saying; “her cd is excellent, she has a magnidicent voice!”, and Martin Grenier and Valérie Cléroux of 104,7 had simply stated; “..truly amazing!” and “..I just discovered someone..wow, excellent!”, respectively.
In the summer of 2009, Jozée performed at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival for the second consecutive year. She also performed by invitation with the Impressions of Jazz Orchestra for their tribute to Benny Goodman’s 1938 concert at Carnegie Hall, and was the featured headliner at a sold out concert at la Salle Jean Despréz - Maison du Citoyen in Gatineau. For the past several years Jozée has also played at many private, public and corporate events, including a full house at the Cabaret de la Maison Maxime known for it's international and national bookings.
In 2007, Jozée’s efforts culminated in the recording and production of her debut album “Low Key”. Breathing new life into jazz standards, it is an eclectic mix of traditional swing, blues, and latin.
Fluent in French and English, she also sings in Spanish and Portuguese to answer to the versatility of her repertoire that includes both the established standards of yesteryear as well as today’s modern classics. Jozée and her musicians are also known to jazz up contemporary pop material with imaginative and fresh arrangements.
