Jeff Koch

Jeff Koch was born on October 21, 1989 and raised in Greenwich Village, the heart of New York City’s music scene. He started playing electric bass when he was 12 years old and began studying upright bass his first day of high school a year later. In high school, Jeff was exposed to big band music, which influenced the development of his sound making it rich and powerful without the use of amplification. He participated in the Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Festival for 4 years as well as the Essentially Ellington Competition for 3 years. At the Berklee competition, Jeff received the “judges’ choice award” twice and also received an “outstanding musicianship award”. Jeff has been performing regularly in New York City for the past 3 years as a rock and jazz bassist. He has performed at many clubs including: The Jazz Standard, Cornelia Street Cafe, Cachaca Jazz and Samba Club, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music, CBGBs, and The Knitting Factory. He entered the Manhattan School of Music in the fall of 2007, where he currently studies jazz bass under the instruction of Jay Anderson.
