Born: March 18, 1974 Primary Instrument: Clarinet
Grew up in Germany and stood on stage for the first time at age 6 as narrator for school play. Classical music training started at age 6 with recorder and age 9 with clarinet. Was one of the first members of a new Dixieland band in high school for 8 years. Quit band - tried to get deeper into New Orleans style and away from Dixieland. Spent 3 years in Vienna, Austria, which has a great local Jazz scene. While officially there to learn sound engineering and multimedia/web design, I also learned a lot more about Jazz. Left for Munich, Germany, and stayed 4 years, again participating in the Jazz scene when possible. Visited New Orleans for 10 days with local Jazz Band - bought a metal clarinet that I still use for Jazz. Moved to US. After not touching the clarinet for 7 years, was invited to New Orleans style Jam Session, and after practicing for 3 weeks performed surprisingly well. Now on the look for more New Orleans Jazz in the Minneapolis area. Dream: To be permanent member of a New Orleans Jazz Band. Other instruments: Slide Whistle, Washboard, Saxophone (used to play Tenor, was not comfortable with it - Alto would fit better - do not own one at this time), a little piano, vocals
