Primary Instrument: Vocal
Julie Charnet is a jazz/blues vocalist on the east coast, based out of Philadelphia, PA. Her passion for timeless music can be heard in her soulful slides and animated live performances.
Classics and rare gems from the 1930's, 40's, and beyond, make for a unique repertoire that include old school blues favorites, and new interpretations of jazz swing, and popular others. Her expression of the music tells many of life's stories. She will take you back to another time, yet maintain a fresh perspective.
Her performances are usually as a trio, quartet, or big band and frequently allow for special guest musicians. She will guarantee a special time for those in attendance at restaurants, clubs, and other music venues.

Another crop of seasoned Philly jazzsters, including tenor saxophonist Robert Bootsie Barnes - help enliven cabaret singer Julie Charnet's standards-oriented Is You Is. Like torch singers of yore, Charnet often suggests sensuality (on songs like Round Midnight and Lady Is The Tramp) by sliding up into a note rather than hitting it square. The technique bothers my pitch-focused ears, though others don't even notice! Cool.
