Tom Donald was born in country Australia, in the town of Coonabarabran growing up outside Tamworth in picturesque northern New South Wales. Tamworth is known as the country & folk music capital of Australia.
Now based in London & Europe, Donald has forged a career of intensely original world & jazz & post-rock influenced classical music that is freely independent of most genres.
Tom Donald is a piano improvisation virtuoso often performing complete concerts cycles of pure improvisation such as the London Ealing Concert. Donald also composes soundtrack for film, as well as for concert. Recently his compositions for film have won acclaim throughout Europe and The Middle East, including Haider Rashid's Tangled up in Blue and Koutiba Al-Janabi's Leaving Baghdad.
In London he has performed at Abbey Road Studios, Hackney Empire, National Opera Studio, BBC Maida Vale and Ronnie Scotts.
Based at the Bluthner Piano Centre in Mayfair. Donald's music workshops in piano and composition are known worldwide with musicians and music hobbyists of all ages and cultures around the world attending his seminars on music making.
