As I listen to “Instrumentally Yours” I lack the musical vocabulary to compliment the art of you and your band-mates. I listen to a great deal of what’s known as smooth jazz, and your arrangements are clearly among the very best. I hear the legacy of Wes and Carlos but there is a fresh vitality to all of the sounds. Along the way, I hear perhaps the heritage of Monk and Mongo. Marienthal is his own category. Love the bass! The dialogues between you and the steel drums are magic and I think myself lucky that my son, his girl-friend and I have heard a bit of your music last evening at The Dome, Arclight, Hollywood CA, that I had a chance to chat and to buy your disc. -Anonymous Fan
