Primary Instrument:
Luca Aquino was born in Benevento, Italy, in 1974. He devotes to the study of trumpet at the age of 19 as self-taught man to study then jazz with Lorenzo Federici and others. He got the Degree at the Federico II University in Naples. Luca is endorser of Hub Van Laar, trumpets and flugelhorns maker. He took part to the seminars by Paolo Fresu within “Città Spettacolo” of Benevento and the seminars by “Siena Jazz” under the guide of Marco Tamburini, Claudio Corvini, Pietro Leveratto and Paolino Dalla Porta and recorded with the Widequintet the album “Meet me in Sardinia” for the Splasc(h) Records. He attended a master class in instruments with the trumpeter Andrea Tofanelli and the seminars by “Nuoro Jazz” with Paolo Fresu, Tino Tracanna, Attilio Zanchi, Ettore Fioravanti, Roberto Cipelli, Bruno Tommaso e John Abercrombie, where he tooks the scholarship and played at the festivals “Time in Jazz” in Berchidda and “Nuoro Jazz”, recording an album with the “Eight Caught Playing” with the partecipation of Tommaso Lama. He achieved the second prize and the Critics prize at the International Massimo Urbani Award. Literally flashed by the music of the Supersilent, from the trumpeter Arve Henriksen, Jon Hassell, Jan Bang, Eric Truffaz, Nills Petter Molvaer and others, he dedicades to the study of electronic music and recorded the album “Sopra le nuvole” and “Lunaria”.
