Babooshki formed as a band organically in 2009.
The thing that brought these young and talented musicians together is a passion to find common ground between the neighbouring countries of Poland and the Ukraine on a cultural as well as musical level.
Their common history and traditions are stored in original, and full of charm, melodies.
These melodies include Christmas carols and pastorals, some of them almost completely forgotten, living only in the memories of the inhabitants of small villages in the Eastern Borderlands (Kresy).
The band have endeavoured to introduce the music derived from their common Slavic roots. With a hypnotic combination of jazz, acoustic sounds and harmonies the band have made a return to the richness of old traditions and the heritage of their homes.

A vontade de descobrir ligações entre dois países vizinhos, a Polónia e a Ucrânia, foi o mote para a união entre os músicos A história e tradições comuns são perpetuadas em melodias originais e plenas de charme. Nelas se incluem canções de Natal e pastorais, algumas das quais estavam quase esquecidas actualmente, sobrevivendo apenas na memória dos habitantes de pequenas aldeias das Regiões Fronteiriças Orientais (Kresy). A banda decidiu relembrar-nos do som da música que deriva das nossas raízes eslavas comuns, e com a combinação do jazz e dos seus sons e harmonias acústicos, regressar à riqueza das antigas tradições. Este ano, pelas suas notáveis interpretações de música folk, a banda recebeu o prémio do 2º Canal de Rádio Polaca no Festival „Nova Tradição”, bem como teve a sua presença sido seleccionada para muitos outros eventos entre os quais o Festival de Artistas de Rua em Gliwice. Em Novembro, Babooshki editara um álbum de Natal.
Babooshki to zespół, który powstał w 2009 roku. Jego pomysły muzyczne opierają się na bogatej tradycji Kresów Wschodnich. Słowiańskie melodie uzyskują jazzową oprawę, łącząc cechy folkloru z nietypową harmonią. Wszystko to krystalizuje się w akustycznym brzmieniu gitary i kontrabasu, wokalistki zaś pokazują, jak wiele podobieństw zachodzi pomiędzy reprezentowanymi przez nie kulturami. Wspólna płaszczyzna dźwięków pozwala zatem ująć etniczność jako pole różnych energii i indywidualności.
Repertuar zespołu stanowią jazzowe interpretacje melodii z różnych regionów Polski, między innymi pieśni biłgorajskich (związanych z polskim pograniczem południowo-wschodnim), melodii mazurskich czy podlaskich, które wykonywane są dwujęzycznie. Muzycy koncentrują się przede wszystkim na wydobywaniu podobieństw pomiędzy polską i ukraińską muzyką ludową. Opis
