Born: March 20, 1947    Primary Instrument: Synthesizer

Born March 20, 1947, the son of Sherry and Bob Lackritz and nephew of famous soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy who was said to have introduced the instrument to John Coltrane (and it's true). His Uncle Steve had also played with Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Stitt and countless others in the Sun Ra vein of Post War American Black Jazz. Don played the guitar at age 12 and diguised his youth in clubs with help of the mobbed up managements that controlled liquor licenses in bars and music venues in the 50's thru the late 70's in the New York Metropolitan State area. Don remembers Steve Lacy from family seders in the New York home of his uncle and aunr, Joe and Mildred Lackritz and how they celebrated listening to klesmer music and Charlie Parker Jazz tinged with a little Monk thrown in for good measure at the last call for alcohol. In the 1960's don fronted and sided on guitar with Blues and Jazz bands before progressing to Fusion and Funk which inspired him to move from guitar to vibes and then on the electronic synthesizer and Sonar sequencer which recorded his original musical compositions in the manner he was accustomed to. Aside from trips to Jamaica, Europe and ports even more southernly, his career halted so he could raise his family in Florida and start his own business with the great assistance and loving affection of his parents Alava Shalom. He continues to reise and play in his apartments in Boca Raton Florida where he can be reached to share his history of music, art, philosophy and history and all of the humanities in general. No Republican right-winger here, gents. Just a New York Jewish cat trying to get by playin' his axes and sangin' his songs.
