Mike Berkowitz is a music teacher of guitar and electric bass in the Fresno area and has been teaching since his graduation from Berklee College of Music in 1980. He grew up in Poughkeepsie New York. Mike majored in performance and the electric bass is his main instrument although, in the last 10 years or so, he has been playing guitar in a variety of styles and bands, the jazz venue being a welcome challenge.
Mike moved to Fresno in 1984 to join the Christian band, Omega Sunrise where he recorded and toured with them for 2 years. He and his wife, Anne settled in Fresno after he got off the road and the band decided to go off into the sunset. Mike then started teaching locally and joined the ranks of talented musicians in the Central Valley in various venues and is to this day one of the distinctive notables in the community of musicians.
