Born: December 6, 1968 Primary Instrument: Piano
Gray began studying piano in high school at Caddo Magnet High, a school in shreveport, louisiana strongly oriented towards the arts having produced some great musicians such as Kenny Wayne Shephard and Brian Blade. After a long hiatus he began experimenting with the written arts and after struggling with a novel length work and dabbling in performance poetry while studying medicine in New Orleans Louisiana he began his new relationship with sound and the performing arts while in professional school. Unsatisfied with simply mixing sounds with electronic media he picked up his axe again after being inspired by avant garde jazz musican Marzette Watts whom he met before his death while in medical school. He and Marzette's son Eli Watts began experimenting with music in the funk, rock, and hip hop genre before they were seperated. Time in New Orleans provided enough inspiration to pursue in depth studies of jazz piano which he has continued since. He has performed at local jazz festivals in billings montana as well as other local venues and studied classical piano at Montana State University and has performed with the Montana State University jazz ensemble.
