Darron McKinney’s CDs have been played all over the world, in such places as South Africa, Australia and England. After studying music at Southern University in Louisiana over 20 years ago under the tutorship of the legendary Alvin Batiste, McKinney has gone on to perform with such music giants as Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Betty Carter, Joe Sample, Cuba Gooding, Sr. of the “Main Ingredient” and many more. He is the recipient of the “Discovery Award,” presented by BET ON Jazz, and has been compared to the late Grover Washington, Jr. by JazzReview.com.
“Darron’s music is very touching…perfect for relaxing and meditating to,” said Kenny Wako of Joy Radio 89.6 FM in Malawi, South Africa. In Australia, it’s more of the same. “Darron plays superb jazz that every jazz lover should hear. I thank the artist for the excellent contribution to jazz,” added Yarden ben Yoakov of Radio and Media Productions in Australia.
