Primary Instrument:
Son de Brooklyn brings the great music of Cuba and Latin America to New York City: The mambo, cha cha cha, bolero, guaracha, and Latin jazz. Our primary focus, though, is son, the hypnotic dance music born in eastern Cuba.
Son de Brooklyn is an eclectic mix of some of the best young talent in NYC’s latin music scene. Featuring vocalists/percussionists Renato Thoms (Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri) and Igor Arias (Son de Altura, Los Caribeños), violinist Ali Bello (Orquesta Broadway), bassist Danny Rojo (Celia Cruz, Patato Valdes) and tresero Taylor Watson (Conjunto Chappottin, Nelson Gonzalez).
Son de Brooklyn’s new album: “Los Hipsters No Bailan: La Habana/Brooklyn Sessions” is now available on itunes, emusic, and cdbaby! To find out more about the band, visit us online at myspace.com/sondebrooklyn. ¡Aché!
