Dr. LeRoy Henry

I am a former Navy guitar player turned .Net programmer. I live in Carlsbad and have 4 cats. Besides programming I teach part time at the University of Phoenix and hold a doctorate of education in educational leadership.

While pursuing my doctorate in education I was studying with the famous guitarist/author Wolf Marshall. I became interested in the work of Pat Martino, specifically his improvisations on jazz standards. Pat and I have become friends over the years and I have had help from several people producing a book of transcriptions of Pat Martino's improvisations on jazz standards.

LeRoy Henry is an interesting man. He is a good guitar player and he also knows how to organize groups of musicians, to make things happen. (LeRoy is the founder of the San Diego Jazz Guitar Society). LeRoy is also a friend of the great guitarist, Pat Martino. As part of that friendship, LeRoy has set out to transcribe solos Pat recorded on jazz standards. I find this book an important practice device. I have used it for practice many times, (starting, slowly, and then increasing the speed). I recommend the book for part of your library, for daily practice. Thanks are in order to LeRoy for the creation of this great learning tool (and to Pat for playing these great solos). You will find it will build a better understanding of how to approach learning the guitar. Good luck and better practicing, Mundell Lowe
