Born on April 1976 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. As a child he had the privilege of growing up surrounded by some of the best musicians that Puerto Rico had on those days and the exciting opportunity of listening and learning from them.
His beginnings as a music student was with his father Ernesto Gonzalez and then he moved to the self-taught side, learning and searching for the knowledge of jazz harmony, improvisation and techniques; this was the same for the guitar as for the congas. His perseverance and dedication helped him land a series of good expositions as a guitarist and percussionist.
Later on, he decided to complete a Bachelor degree in music, which he got from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico .
After achieving this he moved to New York where he studied under the guidance of renowned jazz guitarrist Paul Bollenback and completed a M.A. in jazz performance with honors from the Aaron's Copland School of Music (CUNY). During his years in New York City, Ermesc started exploring with complex harmony compositions melodically exquisite to the listener.
In 2007 Ermesc returned to Puerto Rico and started to work as a faculty member for the music department at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico.
By 2009 he opened a web page named www.GuitarraPR.com ; this site is a great tool for every spanish speaking person who wants to learn how to play acoustic or electric guitar.
The same year of 2009 served as the year when Ermesc recorded his first album Introspection where he performed as a guitar and percussion player and as a composer.
Introspection was released in April 2010 featuring Aldemar Valentin on bass and Freddie Burgos on drums. Available now on Itunes, Amazon, CDBaby.com, ermesc.com
