Alex Boneham is one of Australia’s most in demand up-and-coming jazz bassists, having performed throughout Australia and overseas with many of the country’s top jazz practitioners. In 2007 Alex won the James Morrison Generations in Jazz Scholarship and in 2008 was a finalist in the prestigious National Jazz Awards. At age 22, Alex is already bassist of choice for many of the country’s leading creative musicians.

Alex graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2009 with a Bachelor of Jazz Performance having studied with Craig Scott, Matt McMahon, Mike Nock and SSO bassists Alex Henery and Kees Boersma. Alex has continued his study of the double bass with international heavyweights of jazz such as Larry Grenadier, Matt Penman, Matt Brewer, John Webber, and Neal Caine.   Alex has performed for audiences in Europe, Japan, China, and extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand with a wide range of artists. These include Mike Nock, Dale Barlow, James Morrison, Joe Chindamo, James Muller, Bernie McGann, Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra and Charles Tolliver, Barbara Morrison, Bjørn Solli (Norway), Bob Montgomery (USA), George Coleman Jnr (USA), Glenn Shorrock (Little River Band), Kristin Berardi, and many more.
