E. Shawn Qaissaunee (kay-saw'-nee) was born on January 30, 1970 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Widely acknowledged as an outstanding guitarist and bassist in the United States and abroad, Shawn is a Berklee College of Music Alumnus and former student of world famous guitarists Pat Martino and Wolfgang Muthspiel. He has been writing and performing music since he was sixteen years old and has released two CD's of his music, Painting Pictures (2001) and Tell A Story (2003), both of which have received critical and popular acclaim. Shawn has performed with a wide range of amazing musicians in the USA and Europe including jazz greats McCoy Tyner and Benny Golson. In addition to being highly sought after as a guitarist and bassist, Shawn's newest musical endeavors combine diverse genres including his Blues, Rock, Soul, Funk and Afghan roots performed with a jazz sensibility.
