Ba Freiry Vocalist, composer and guitar player explores the original sounds of Brazil.
Ba Freiry was born in Sao Paulo Brazil in 1958. The child of a musical family from which he inherited his natural love of music and unique talent, he started playing the guitar and composing from an early age. During high school he was already performing in musical festivals, competing in several musical talent shows where he was noticed for his original compositions and his personal style. At university he continued to compete in more prestigious events, often taking first and second place. Notice was taken of his passionate presentation and rich musical approach, paving the way to many performances in nightclubs and inclusion in several bands.
At the same time he expanded his creative experience by making contact with various artists including actors, poets, and musicians. He composed the music for several Brazilian plays such as: “Romance Da Pedra Bonita” “O Beato ze lourenco” “Dias Do Futuro” “O Cariri por Exemplo”
At the age of 22 he left to Sou Paulo, considered the main artistic center of Brazil, where he extended his musical skills, working with a number of well-known contemporary musicians such as Fagner, Tom Ze, Zeca Bahia, and Rosemberg Cariry among others.
In 1991 he recorded his first album and took part in projects such as “Projectos Pixinguinha”, “Seis E Meia” and others.
In 1992 Ba immigrated to Israel with his family making his home in Jerusalem. Within a short time he was performing and working with local musicians such as David Broza and Rami Kleinstein, appearing in a number of Jazz festivals and performing routinely in night clubs and concert halls.
In 1993 he formed his first band, “Makumba” which aimed at interpreting Brazilian folk music. Then in 1998 he formed “OBIOBA” where he performed his own original compositions.
Ba has made appearances in number of European countries such as Turkey Greece and Portugal, and continues to expand his creative endeavor round the world.
