Born in Queens and raised on the East end of Long Island,Bryan Campbell began studying music formally in high school,availing himself to many musical situations . Playing in pit orchestras,various county Jazz bands, attending summer Jazz camps and learning marimba in orchestra. In 2004, he moved back to New York City to attend the New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music and completed his BFA in Jazz performance in the spring of 2007. He has had the privilege to study privately with Ben Street,Jonathan Kreisberg,Vic Juris,Chris Cheek, Steve Cardenas,Mike Moreno and Lage Lund, all who shaped his musical direction and ideas. Bryan has performed at the Bistro, Bay Street Theater,Sweet Rhythm, Wolfer Estates. He is currently playing in an organ trio, The Djangles Brothers Swingtet(a Django Reinhardt inspired group) trio with bassist Billy Johnson and percussonist Mark Johnson( Abbey Lincoln,Art Taylor,Lionel Hampton, Geri Allen, Wallace Roney) and The Jazz Convergence Quartet led by Bob Hovey. He also has had the pleasure of playing with Legendary Vibraphonist Teddy Charles and recently played with arranger and pianist Gil Goldstein. He leads a trio and continues to learn, teach and grow as a musician.
