Dave Clark

Dave Clark is a multi-instrumentalist based in San Francisco. He plays electric and acoustic instruments in jazz and classical styles, both as a solo performer and in groups. His duo with flautist Monica Williams appears on Heart Dance Records.

Dave’s guitar technique derives from his classical training which allows him to play multiple voices and complex right hand figures. As a jazz improviser, his sound reflects the influences of Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, and the blues he heard in his youth in the Deep South. His bass lines are strongly influenced by Paul Chambers and James Jamerson.

Dave studied classical technique under David Hogue and the late Bruce Holzman. More recently he has been fortunate to study with jazz masters including Mimi Fox, Bob Brumbeloe, Ken Rosen, Randy Vincent, Julian Lage, Larry Koontz, Brian Lynch, Richard Saunders, Rob Kohler, and Tiny Lindsey.
