DAHI DIVINE is a tenor saxophonist attending the New School of Jazz & Contemporary Music in New York on scholarship.
Since Dahi joined the jazz scene he has won numerous best solo awards, performed at many venues. Most notable was his selection as one of two tenor saxophonists for the 2010 National Grammy Jazz Band from over 800 auditions entered from across the country. In addition, he was selected to perform on the horn line of the Dave Matthew's Band during this year's 52nd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, CA.
Dahi Divine’s original composition, “Choices” won a gold medal which was announced during the NAACP's 32nd annual ACT-SO Competition. The judging occurred during the NAACP's 101st National Convention in Kansas City, MO on July 12, 2010.
Divine has been mentored by, shared the stage or opened for many notable and legendary jazz musicians.
His aspiration is to obtain a musical proficiency and knowledge enabling him to study music and work with some of the greatest musicians in the world, flourish in today’s music industry as a performer and composer and reach young people to foster and maintain a vital jazz culture.
