Mr. Marblesz , once described as “Farfisa carnival jazz”, is a collection of revered Canadian musicians, hand-picked by composer/guitarist Tom Juhas, to perform music rooted in jazz and stretching to surf and Balkan traditions. This collection of genres can be experienced on their debut self- titled recording “Mr. Marblesz” featuring Friendly Rich, members of string quartet Feu Noire and keyboard specialist Dafydd Hughes on Farfisa organ.

The Mr. Marblesz line-up includes Chris Gale on tenor saxophone (Blue Rodeo, Jeff Healey, Colin James, Ron Sexsmith, The Arkells), Sly Juhas on drums (Brandi Disterheft, Friendly Rich and the Lollipop People, Elvis Bossa Nova, Laila Biali) and Tyler Emond on bass (Matt Dusk, Nick Ali, Slutty Slutty BANG BANG).

Juhas, an Oscar Peterson Prize recipient, has seized the opportunity to perform on stage with the late Michael Brecker and contemporary jazz masters Dave Holland and Dave Douglas while attending Humber College. His diverse ability has extended his experience beyond the jazz world. Juhas can be heard performing vaudevillian avant-guarde on Friendly Rich’s “Sacred Prune of Rememberance”, heavy metal/soul on Pure Finesse’s “Got A Lot to Prove” and pop/rock on Genie nominated Luke Nicholson’s “Satellites”. 2010 was a productive year for Juhas who toured Afghanistan to entertain the Canadian troops with Nashville country/pop recording artist Beverley Mahood, and spread environmental and political awareness across Canada/USA with Afro-beat inspired/dance-floor activist and Juno nominated Mr. Something Something.
