Mike Eckroth

Mike Eckroth pianist and keyboardist, is a native of Phoenix Arizona and currently resides in Jackson Heights, NY. He is currently completing his PhD degree in jazz performance at NYU as well as leading and co-leading a number of projects in varied genres of music.

Michael is currently preparing for release the album Piano and Rhythm with a cast of New York latin greats. Recently the group La Voz De Tres released the album Sueños Y Delirios. In recent years, Michael has participated in a number of recordings- including the first self-titled La Voz De Tres album, Ron McClure Quartet "Crunch Time", Travis Sullivan Quartet "New Directions", Greg Diamond "Shift", a live DVD filmed in Brazil with Paul McCandless and Alieksey Vianna, "Ebano", DEFtrio's debut album "Bushwicked", Kenny Shanker Quartet's "Steppin' Up", Giuseppe Milici's "Amarsi Un Po", Afromantra's "This Side of Mestisaje", Asuka Kakitani Jazz Orchestra's "Bloom", as well as the Chulo Records albums "Melaza" and "Peliroja". » more

From 2010-2012 Michael toured extensively with the John Scofield new quartet. This group played in many of the major club venues in the United States as well as numerous venues and festivals in over 20 countries. He has also appeared on NPR radio and in a french-produced DVD in live performances with Scofield's quartet.

In recent years, Michael has performed at the Jazz al Parque Festival in Colombia, the Havana international Jazz Festival in Cuba, the Savassi Jazz festival in Brazil, the Lagos Jazz series in Nigeria and the Jazz Improv Festival in NYC. WIth La Voz De Tres, Eckroth recently toured the west coast of the U.S. including venues like Tempe Center for the Arts. He has also recently performed at many local venues including Blue Note, ZInc Bar, Smoke, Birdland, Nu Blu and Cornelia Street Cafe.
