Vassil Petrov

Though young, Vassil Petrov is an established perfomer with a wide prosfessional interests in jazz and pop music. He graduated from the Academy of Popular music in Sofia in 1990. He has taken part of many jazz and popular music Festivals, both as a student and as a profesional performer.He has also many recordings and appearances on Bulgarian National Radio and Television and is the best-selling recording artist in Bulgaria with his recording in 1992 and 1994. In addition to this he has performed in live Helsenki, Oslo,Stockholm, Belgrad and at the Winter Olympics in the Lillehammer, Norway. He has released a number of successful albums, including Vassil Petrov Sings Gershwin (1999), Something Different (1997), Duet with Roumen Toskov (1995), Petrov Sings Parmakov (1995), The Other (1994), Vassil Petrov" Jazz & Blues (1994). He is busy working, playing different stages" from clubs and piano bars, to prestigious concert venues and festivals. He has given guest performances in Sweden, Finland, the countries of former Yugoslavia, Norway and the USA, among others.

Works with the best known Bulgarian jazz performers and composers" Roumen Toskov, Vassil Parmakov and Ventseslav Mihailov, the Acoustic Version formation and the Big Band of Vili Kazasian. Has had joint projects with opera singer Christina Angelakova, American jazzmen Dan Moretti and Phil Provenzano, and many others.

News: The jazz singer Vassil Petrov was awarded the 2011 Apollonia Festival of Arts annual prize for exceptional contribution to Bulgarian culture and achievements abroad. The singer was presented off Apollo Toxophoros statuette by Apolonia festival artistic director of the opening ceremony of the Bulgarian town of Sozopol.

Jazz sing­er Vas­sil Pet­rov was award­ed the 2011 Apol­lo­nia Fes­ti­val of Arts annu­al prize for excep­tion­al con­tri­bu­tion to Bul­gar­i­an cul­ture and achieve­ments abroad. Petrov was pre­sent­ed the Apol­lo Tox­oph­o­ros stat­u­ette by Apol­lo­nia fes­ti­val artis­tic direct­or Mar­ga­ri­ta Dim­it­ro­va at the open­ing cer­e­mo­ny in the Bul­gar­i­an town of Sozo­pol. The event also includ­ed a con­cert by the Bul­gar­i­an Nation­al Radio Big Band fea­tur­ing the world-famous US trump­et play­er Tom Har­rell and the con­duct­or Anto­ni Don­chev.
