Oh, when the great white shark met the giant squid, They danced the Tango as no one ever did. Though neither one had been to a dancing school, Their Milonga was a jewel.
Thus begins Adam Fisher's outrageous new cycle of animal songs, running the gamut from a squid/shark love affair to a hungry kitty to a sneezing giraffe to a Tyrannosaurus who can't get laid. Adam grew up intending to play classical cello concerts, and he was just as surprised as the audience when he recently found himself on the stage at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall, singing “Feed the Kitty” while plucking and smacking his cello. He was thrilled to find everyone bopping and laughing in their seats. Adam warmed up the crowd with his Tango di Paganini, the first in a set of cello and piano pieces he has written over the last several years, as well as one of his signature improvisations on a phone number from the audience.
Over the years, Adam has performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and MOMA, as well as at many of New York's downtown venues such as Rockwood Music Hall and CBGB. In 2006, Adam was a featured composer on the inaugural season of the Flea Theater's “Music With a View” series, and he has appeared frequently at Galapagos in Williamsburg. Adam studied physics at Harvard University and has a Masters Degree from Juilliard. He lives in Harlem with his wife and two children.
