Mharlyn Merritt is the daughter of legendary bassist Jymie Merritt and the sister of Mike Merritt, bassist for the Basic Cable Band featured on Conen O' Brien's TBS comedy/talk show.
Ms. Merritt can also be heard on the soon to be re-issued eclectic and psychedelic EP tribute to Elvis, “Curlz Like Elvis” which she co-produced with filmmaker/photographer, Eric Prykowski.
Further collaborations have included guitarist, Rick Iannacone, who traveled from harmelodics back to his R&B roots to create Super Soul Sunday, a soul music revue, which paid homage to the classic soul sounds of the 1970’s, where Mharlyn channeled the spirit of Christie Love.
Another persona Mharlyn has tapped into is Betty Davis (nee Betty Mabry) in live tribute performances that feature such Davis classics as, “F.U.N.K”. and “I Wanna Feel Something”.
Awards:
Mharlyn is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Fellowship in Jazz Performance.
