City Limits is all about originality.
The 10 tracks that make up City Limits have a strong melodic sense that is complex yet will echo in your inner ear. The songs are steeped in the tradition of jazz but have a sense of adventure that can’t be contained.
Justin Snikkar is a native Torontonian who has played bass on the scene and around the world for over 20 years in many guises.
City Limits is his debut recording as a solo artist. All of the compositions are his, and are as revealing as any autobiography. After many years of hard knocks and honing his craft, he has constructed a product that’s ready to leave its mark on any open minded listener who’s ready to challenge their assumptions about what jazz can be.
Justin is joined by Bob Brough on Sax, Marc Pizer on Drums, Mario Potestio on guitar and Sam Heineman on Hammond Organ.
Influences for this CD are: Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Frank Zappa and Wayne Krantz.
Tracks from City Limits can be heard on Galaxie Jazz Now.
