Born: October 16, 1989 Primary Instrument: Vocal
Amber Navran is a multi-faceted young composer who brings new meaning to the phrase singer songwriter. Originally an instrumentalist, she has been playing saxophone and clarinet for 8 years, and is currently attending the University of Southern California as a Jazz Studies major. While in Los Angeles, she started to explore composition and, what started with one jazz standard, became a long list of original material with influences varying from Iron and Wine, and Ellington, to D'Angelo, and Erykah Badu. Amber strives to come up with innovative harmonies and lyrics, and her jazz background offers a fresh take on different genres, often including rich horn arrangements on top of the musical styling’s of her talented band.
She just finished recording her debut album as a singer songwriter and touring he West coast in May 2011. She's been in Seattle playing and teaching for the summer, and looks forward to returning to LA in August to continue writing, recording, and performing!
