Moda Trio are an indie modern jazz trio based in London. Band members Joshan Mahmud (Piano) and Sylvain Menaux (Double Bass) met in 2006 and built a grounding in classic jazz tracks, playing standards by artists such as Bill Evans and Miles Davis. They quickly found themselves exploring new sonic territory and when mutual friends brought Joshan and Paul Blakemore (Drums) together in early 2008 the line-up - and modern sound - was complete. The trio took on the moniker Moda Trio and ever since then have been honing their improvisations and unconventional music. In 2009 Moda Trio released their first EP ‘Joy-F’ recorded at XL Records in house studio containing all original compositions. They subsequently performed their material live at venues dotted across London, receiving praise wherever they went for their unique sound which defied audiences expectations.
