Keith Stout

In the early 1980's, Keith Stout and his associates began to envision a big band dedicated to the expression of American Jazz, Gospel and Christian Contemporary music. They also wanted to educate the public about where jazz music came from and help young musicians develop their talents and passion for music. Thus, Alive Music Orchestra or AMO, was formed as a non-profit organization. Since many of the current standard jazz forms we hear today originated from other styles of music, AMO has put together a program which encompasses many different forms of jazz and appeals to a wide audience.

The members of AMO come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience such as organizing, directing and performing in worship bands, rock bands, chamber groups, symphonic bands, big bands, and contemporary instrumental orchestras. They have performed in venues such as Six Flags Marine World and Disneyland theme parks and have been featured on local, Christian and network television programs. Several of the band's members have performed with such names as: Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, George Benson, The Four Tops, Pete Escovido, Freddie Hubbard, Bill Evans and Richie Cole. AMO recorded it's first CD in 1993 entitled “Down By The Riverside” and more recently “AMO Live”.

Frank Salamone, Chris Grokenberger, Art and Julie Stout, round out AMO vocally as “Singers In Harmony”. Their vocal stylings add a fresh dimension, especially the swing and gospel charts the band performs.

Another exciting group is Keith Stout's AMO Rhythm-N-Brass Band, which is a contemporary gospel group for praise and worship settings. They have played at many church services, Christmas & Easter productions, as well as public events encouraging audiences to “Keep Hope Alive.” They feature contemporary praise, performing with a high energy horn section, and vocals, such praise songs as “ Friend of God” as well as Christian smooth jazz.
