Jana Nyberg

Vocalist Jana Nyberg is quickly becoming recognized as a force in the Twin Cities. Known for her unique blend of jazz, pop, blues and soul, she is a sought after performer and educator. On stage, she brings a vibrancy and passion that is infectious. Her presence ignites and engages her audiences.

Jana has the pleasure of performing regularly with “The Jana Nyberg Group”, “Out From Inside”, and her new funk band, “What It Is.” She has also enjoyed performances with the Adam Meckler Quintet, pianist Josh Rawlings, and has been featured as a guest artist at the UW Eau Claire Jazz Festival, with the UW Green Bay jazz singers, and with the Bethel University Jazz Orchestra.

You can hear Jana most extensively on her band's debut self-titled album released in 2008, and on her August 2011 release, “Fever”.

”...There are so many moments when each instrument shines and the arrangements are stellar - especially Fever, which, as a song, i'm kinda tired of, but you guys breathe new life into it.” - pat mAcdonald, Timbuk3/Purgatory Hill

“...The title track has the necessary degree of seductive heat but is no imitation of Peggy Lee. Jana’s rendition is more angular, with Adam’s slithery horn providing more smoothing edges. The give-and-take among singer and band, particularly in the final verse, adds some cloak-and-dagger danger to this delightful track.” - JazzPolice.com
