David Akrish is a modern, smooth jazz, funk, soul drummer from Seattle,WA. He started playing at age seven listening to soul, funk and rock. He now has a split musical personality playing and studying between post-bop jazz [Miles, T. Williams, Coltrane, Cobham, Herbie...] and modern, smooth jazz [Sanborn, Rangell, R. Elliott, Spyro Gyra..].

He has played in many local rock/fusion bands throughout his life and has now progressed, over the last decade, into the jazz arena. Having studied jazz drumming all of his life, coupled with an ease of 'hearing and interpreting' any song, David now seeks to fuse with jazz musicians with a willingness to 'see' the drums as a lead and integral part of a smooth jazz or post-bop trio or quartet
