Every kind of Saxophones, Sousaphone, Tuba, Clarinet, Flute ... Here is my story.
Sent at 8 eight years to the neighbourhood music school, at saxophone due to a lack of staff in the city orchestra (i wanted to play the trumpet, by the way...), and after trying to spend a « classic » life, becoming Chemical & Physical Measurements Superior Technician (yes, ma'am), i realize that i definitely prefer blow horns.
Actually, Saxophone is not so bad !
After few years learning with Nicolas Dary, André Villéger, Philippe Macé, Tony Russo, Pierre Bertrand, Nicolas Folmer and Emyl Spanii (Paris 9th), i created a big band named L'Oreille Cassée, for wich i wrote all the pieces, and i recorded a CD album with Inama, co-led jazz sextet rewarded at Saint-Germain-des-Prés and La Défense 2007 Festivals.
Today, i collaborate with Fred Maurin's 13tet Ping Machine and Jean Baptiste Court's quintet Pensativa. I still take part in Banda Les Verres Luisants, friends brass-band from city orchestra (see above), who preferred rugby stadiums and fiestas to concerts and commemorations in churches with shiny leather shoes... Then, the summer of 2005, i get a Sousaphone. Huh ?! How does it works... After some doubtfull weeks, i start to like it and to feel like a bassist (place i had in Banda Los Amarillos, but with a Baritone sax...). I decide to learn Tuba (with Fred Marillier & Jérémie Dufort). After some well- done-music-school-things, i am today the Tubist/Sousaphonist of Julien Soro's Big Four, Julien Silvand's New Orleans & Tap Dance band Les Oignons and Amina Mezaache's Brazilia 4tet. I also contribute to some free improvisation sessions (Amok Improv'). Here i am now more than ever as a poly-instrumentist, on stage or down in the streets, playing on the big spectrum of Jazz.
