Carles Bellot

Born in Barcelona, from an early age awakened in him the passion for music. His first toys were musical instruments for which he felt a special attraction. Destiny made that he dedicated half of his life to percussion and later to singing, feeling particularly fascinated by all kinds of music which he calls "black" through all its evolutionary state from its origins in gospel and blues, as well as for jazz, R & B, soul, funk, etc.. .

At different stages of his life he has been dedicated to both percussion (various formations of African percussion, rumba, fusion, etc..) As the singing, especially in recent years, which has participated in different gospel music formations (Cor Gràcia Gospel, Gospel Sons or Barcelona Gospel Messengers) and also leading his own jazz group (Carles Bellot Quartet, Quintet, etc.).

In that great school of gospel music he has shared the stage, knowledge and friendship with such greats as Dani Alonso, Ramon Escale, Emmanuel Djob, Didier Likeng or Bazil Meade, among others.

Influenced by a wide range of the best voices in jazz, blues and gospel as his admired Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, or Tonny Bennett and by Emmanuel Djob, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Mahalia Jackson or Kirk franklin in the world gospel music.

During the different stages and musical styles has shared the stage with great musicians among which Ignasi Terraza, Dani Alonso, Ramon Escale, Esteve Pi, Juli Aymi, Emmanuel Djob, Bazil Meade, Artur Regada or Gerard Nieto, among others.

In all these years of musical experience has had the opportunity to perform at various festivals highlighting the Barcelona Jazz Festival, Jazz Festival Arenys de Mar, the Jazz in the Night Cycle of Premià de Dalt or the Festival of Vilafranca Vijazz .

After participating in several albums with gospel-music (see discography), decided to record his first solo album, leading his own jazz band in 2010. On this album, entitled "My Soul, My Feelings", he had the opportunity to work with excellent professionals, among which stands out especially Joan Chamorro (saxophonist) as a special guest, and David Casamitjana as recording engineer and mixing, with the very able assistance of Marta Fabregat, which from the beginning were delighted to participate in this project.

In "My Soul, My Feelings" one can find known jazz standards such as "L-o-v-e", "I've Got The World On A String" and "Sophisticated Lady", a song specially responsible of the participation of Joan Chamorro (a luxury to hear how overboard the saxophone solo in this song).
