The common man avant-garde group SVIN, which translates into pig in Danish, was established in the cold winter of 2008 and has since then worked their way to a dark and brutish still image of modern music, which is captured in more than one genre. Now the time has come to present this expression for the gaping mob and hungry masses. The band will release their debut record Heimat mid september on the newly established record label Mom Eat Dad Records.
The name SVIN should not be considered as a bad attempt at getting attention but is referring to the brute force, the intelligence and the primitive powerful attributes of the animal as well as the band, just like the title Heimat (home town) is reflecting the band’s pursuit of connecting and uniting a creative home town.
SVIN is eating their way into a sonic underworld of lyrical post rock, white noise, European avant-garde and makes a virtue out of combining the untamed energy of free jazz with the forefront guitar of the indie music.

About SVIN - Heimat:
Erik Barkman (gaffa.dk) 4/6
“SVIN is mixing post-rock, freejazz and mathrock into an agile
and muscular hybrid of a rockalbum. The quartet is more in
control with the heavy riffs and odd meters than most, but
behind the avant-garde exterior lies inciting and jazzy
melodies, which makes Heimat difficult to let go of.
” It’s a strong debut, SVIN has put together (…) A vital and
cleansing rockalbum.”
Niels Overgaard (jazznyt.blogspot.com)
“With a special mix of movie soundscapes, heavy rockdrums
and a saxophone that is alternating between being searching
and fragile to wild and untamed, the music of this quartet is
convincing and nuanced.”
Siggy Zielinski (babyblaue-seiten.de)
“Heimat is a listenable debut, which combines seemingly
incompatible styles
such as jazz or alternative rock and post rock and free jazz.”
