Multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger Enrique Fernandez has performed and recorded extensively in both genres of jazz and latin jazz. Some of his recording credits include the grammy winning “Masterpiece/Obra Maestra” Tito Puente’s last recording. He served as musical director and composer on “Ritmo y Candela” I & II landmark recordings by Patato Valdes both nominated in consecutive years 1996, 1997 in the latin jazz category. Enrique can be heard on “Jazz Descargas” The Conga Kings.-Chesky records. “Melodia para Congas” Enriquillo Winds.- Mapleshade records. “Tanga”, “My Time is now”, “944 Columbus”, Mario Bauza’s Afro-cuban Jazz Orch. seminal recordings on Messidor records and many salsa recordings throughout the 90's. Enrique currently performs as a member of the Duke Ellington Orch. ,Chico O'farrill Orch., Bebo Valdes quintet, Cachaos' Descarga, Patato Valdes and AfroJazzia , Ray Mantilla’s Space Station, Giants of Latin Jazz, Muhal Richard Abrams ensemble to name a few.
