Brian Camelio is the founder of ArtistShare as well as an accomplished musician/composer and producer. Most notably he is widely considered to be the father of the “fan-funded” music business model by forming ArtistShare in September, 2000. ArtistShare is a music industry business model where the fans fund the creation of new recordings and the artist is paid before the recording is released. To this date ArtistShare Artists have received a total of 4 Grammy awards and 14 Grammy nominations since 2004. The first ArtistShare fan-funded project release was entitled Concert in the Garden by American composer Maria Schneider. In 2004, the release won a Grammy for “Best Large Jazz Ensemble Recording” and made recording industry history as being the first album ever to win a Grammy that was not available in retail stores. In 2005, Brian was featured in The Big Moo - The Group of 33, “an unprecedented collaboration of 33 of the world's smartest business thinkers” by renowned business writer Seth Godin. He has been a guest speaker at the Judge Business School at Cambridge University, Midem, NARAS, ASCAP, NYU Law School, Columbia University, FMC and has been a member of the adjunct faculty at New School University since the mid-'90s, where he teaches music, business and technology.
