LUCA DONINI

Luca is considered by critics an artist prestige in Italy and abroad, a musician with a strong artistic originality and multifaceted features.

Born in Verona (Italy), graduated with honors in Saxophone, Clarinet and Jazz Music. He attended seminars by studying with Joe Henderson and Michael Brecker.

Since 1984 he has a 'lot of concerts and recordings throughout Europe, working with Tony Scott, Henry Threadgil, Larry Nocella, Franco D'Andrea, Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava, Tullio De Piscopo, Hosè MariaLeon, Giorgio Baiocco, G.Gazzani, Florian Brambock, Garrison Fewell, Giovanni Mazzarino, Merce Cunningham, Andrè De La Roche, Teri J. Weike, Ronnie Jones etc..

Since 1989 he's conductor of “Future Orchestra Jazz Big Band”, but he's also arranger and compositor of the piece for concerts

With Luca Donini Quartet, he propose originals pieces with new jazz reinterpretation .

He's part of the group “Slanting “ with Ivan Valentini - sax, Paolo Botti - viola, Luca Donini - tenor sax, Giancarlo Giannini - trombone, Michele Francesconi - pianoforte, Tito Mangialajo Rantzer - bass, Roberto Dani - drums.

He has also collaborated with the Spanish dancer Jose Maria Leon, the American choreographer Merce Cunningham, the American choreographer Teri J. Weikel, Andrè De La Roche, the singers Rhonda Moore, Cheryl Porter, Goran Kuzminac, Freak-Antoni (Skiantos), Leandro Barsotti, Vincent Palmer, Marco Columbro, Alessandro Haber.

For the contemporary classical music and has collaborated with the “ Teatro La Fenice “ di Venezia, “Teatro Giuseppe Verdi” of Trieste, with the Orchestra of the “Festival di Musica Contemporanea” of Trento and with “Compagnia Della Rancia” of Roma for the realization of “Cantando sotto la pioggia” (director Saverio Marconi, performers Raffaele Paganini, Edi Angelillo ecc.) etc.

From 2004 to 2007 and 2010 held by Luca Donini Quartet major tour in Germany playing in the Festival of Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, Altembug, Jena.

From July 23 to August 5, 2008, with Luca Donini Quartet, he held a series of concerts in the United States in the cities of Jazz Festival 'De Moines Iowa and Fairfield.

Since 1999 he has been teaching role in the State Music Conservatory. He has taught saxophone at the conservatories of Cosenza, Matera, Padova, Verona Como, Vicenza, and Bari.

Luca is currently full professor and professor of saxophone jazz department at the State Conservatory of Music “A. Buzzolla” Adria (Ro).
